Biography

Renata Celichowska has guest taught, performed and choreographed for universities and studios across the U.S. and Europe, including two visiting lectureships at Yale University; workshops in Italy, Greece, Germany, England, Poland; a two-year artist's residency in the Czech Republic; choreography for drama and opera productions for Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Judson Church, and the Glimmerglass Opera Festival; and a longstanding teaching position at NYU. Prior to joining Tufts, Celichowska was director of the 92Y Harkness Dance Center in NYC. She was a company member with the Erick Hawkins Dance Co. and has performed with numerous NYC-based companies. She holds a BA in Fine Arts from Yale University and an MA in Dance Education from NYU. Published works include The Erick Hawkins Dance Technique and Seven Statements of Survival: Conversations with Dance Professionals. Her work has been supported by The Trust for Mutual Understanding and the National Institute to Preserve American Dance.
